5 Healing Gifts to Give Yourself this Christmas

Are you feeling anxious at the thought of Christmas this year? Is the pressure to try and get everything done in time causing you stress? Do you have a habit of putting everybody else’s needs first at the expense of your own?
If so, I’ve written this article to help you successfully navigate this year’s festive season!
Christmas is well known for being the season of mince pies, mulled wine and merry times...
However, for many people it can also be a very challenging time of year.
This can be particularly true for ‘people pleasers’ who just want to see everyone around them happy. Being a natural people-pleaser myself, I understand this dynamic intimately.
On my healing journey, I discovered some powerful tools that helped me to prioritize my own self-care. Especially during times of peak celebration and stress!
This year, consider adding yourself to your Christmas list… Like those near and dear to you, you deserve love and care too!
Here are some healing gifts you can give to yourself this year…
1. The gift of scheduling ‘me-time’.
Natural people pleasers are usually highly sensitive to group energy. This is typically why we become overly concerned with how everyone else is feeling.
If you have a caring and empathic nature it is important that you also make your self-care a priority as well. So you can recharge your batteries and be in good form when you need it most…
This holiday season give yourself the gift of time away from other people.
It can be as simple as a listening to a guided meditation or having some ‘me-time’ at your favourite café or coffee shop. You can use the opportunity to express your creativity, write freely or even sketch in your journal.
2. The gift of ‘rest and relaxation’.
This year give yourself the gift of rest and relaxation. This will help you to reduce stress as well as coping strategies such as emotional eating.
Try booking a relaxing massage, lighting candles in the evening or buying yourself a lovely bouquet of flowers.
December is also a great time to have a nice long soak in the bath. For a touch of luxury, play some calming music. You can also add a handful of epsom sea salts and a few drops of your favourite essential oils.
These soothing rituals will help you to slow down and connect with your inner peace.
3. The gift of ‘knowing your limits’.
Christmas is called the silly season for good reason! It’s a time for fun, food and frivolity.
However knowing when you’ve had enough is key…
Keep being mindful throughout any festive activities. It is okay to say that you have had enough to eat or drink, or to leave a party before it finishes…
In the past, each time I over stepped my limits, I would invariably end up feeling it the next day. ‘Knowing my limits’ helped me to create a healthy and happy relationship with myself.
4. The gift of ‘saying no’.
Give yourself permission to ‘say no’ to the things that you don’t enjoy or have energy for this Christmas.
‘Saying no’ is all about creating healthy boundaries with other people.
If you are experiencing overwhelm, it’s okay to share this. It is possible to be honest with others without hurting their feelings.
Christmas traditions can be difficult to break. However ‘saying no’ to the things that no longer work for you can often free up space for ‘saying yes’ to the things that do.
Just keep listening to your intuition and trust the inner guidance that you receive from your body.
5. The gift of creating 'sacred space'.
Bring your 2025 to a powerful close by giving yourself the gift of sacred space and time to prepare for the New Year.
Use the days after Christmas to clear away clutter that has been accumulating over the year. It could be as simple as taking a few minutes to de-clutter your purse or handbag. Or if you have more time, you could clear clutter from a bedroom closet or pantry shelf.
Another useful idea could be to clear some space in your inbox. Make a nice hot drink and get cracking. File away important emails, delete the unimportant ones and unsubscribe from newsletters that you don’t read...
